Have you ever dreamed of just quitting your job, selling everything you own, leaving friends and family behind and taking off to the woods for a six month hiking adventure? Well that is exactly what I did when I embarked on a solo thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail from March 5 to August 14, 2000. I hiked 2167.1 continuous miles from Springer Mountain, Georgia to Baxter Peak on Mount Katahdin, Maine through 14 states and 3 seasons. It was quite an amazing journey!
