Jen summits Mt. Rainier on September 13, 2001 at 9:00am. It was a two-day climb from the base at Paradise in Mount Rainier National Park, WA. From Paradise it's a 4,500 foot approach to Camp Muir (Day 1). Day 2 began at 2:00am from Camp Muir and required another 4,500 foot elevation gain and then a 9,000 foot descent back to Paradise. The weather was perfect with no wind, clear skies and warm temperatures. Every one of the 23 climbers on the RMI rope teams made it to the top! Jen broke out her flag at the summit for the usual summit photos, but this time carrying the American flag to the summit of the mountain had a much deeper significance. Photos shown below were taken at Columbia Crest, elevation 14,410 feet.
